A good resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV). Everyone needs one! Start working on yours now (if you haven't already). Don't wait until it is time to apply.

A few tips to help you put your best foot forward:

  • Tailor your resume for each type of job (and highlight specific experiences)

  • Highlight any independent research that you have completed (put it first for many jobs/schools)

  • Include all valuable laboratory skills, field skills, quantitative and communication skills (and organize them by skill type)

  • Use action - task - result descriptions in your bullet points

  • Have a faculty member in the Bio Department look at your resume/CV before you send it.

Here is an example resume and CV to help you get started.

**Don’t forget to write a new cover letter for each position. It should be tailored to that job! Have multiple people proof read your cover letter and resume or CV.**
